About me

Public Historian Dedicated to Preserving Mexican American Stories

Hello there! Thank you for visiting my site. Now that you are here, let me tell you a little about my myself and my work. I am a third generation Chicana with deep roots in Eastern Kansas. My family origin story is not an uncommon one. Like countless people of Mexican descent in Kansas, my great grandparents fled Mexico during the early twentieth century following the Mexican Revolution. In the years that followed, they established new lives and laid down roots in the Kansas City area.

As an inquisitive child, I always asked my grandmother and her sisters to tell me stories about what their lives were like growing up . My work aims to answer my decades long search for not only my own origin story, but for the histories of so many Mexican Americans like me in the heartland.
